And that’s why the Pimlico side tables are included in the collection. Sitting alongside the console table and the black coffee table you could introduce the square side table, perfect framing partners for each end of the sofa.

In the spotlight: new industrial dining tables

Amalfi U Bar Oak Dining Table

The industrial style is perfect in so many ways. With the small detailing lifting it from minimal to refined and uncluttered, it is no wonder that the industrial dining table, whether a 6 seater dining table or something smaller, is one of the most popular choices for both the kitchen/diner and the formal dining room.

It is because of this popularity for the style, a timeless fusion between reclaimed wood and metal, that we have chosen to add three more industrial dining tables to our range. And none will disappoint. The only problem you’ll have is deciding which one to opt for…

The Standford reclaimed wood dining set

As reclaimed wood dining tables go, the Standford must surely be top of the list.

And no wonder, the reclaimed wood table top is appealing to both the eye and touch, it’s metal frame simple yet a welcome additional detail to a streamlined dining table.

Standford Reclaimed Wood Dining Set with Leather Chairs

The Standford reclaimed wood dining table is also versatile as it comes as a dining set. An extendable top means it can easily accommodate an influx of guests and diners. Opt for a two or four-seater, or why not discover the delightful practicalities of a dining bench?

Standford Reclaimed Wood Dining Bench

The larger table extends to over two metres, perfect for those summer parties, Christmas dinners and more…

The Amalfi u-bar industrial dining table

Similar in many ways is the Amalfi industrial dining table but with the added detailing of the u-bar legs at either end of this two-metre table. There is a grandeur to this table that attracts us – so we know you’ll love it – because reclaimed wood furniture always brings something unique. And the Amalfi u-bar industrial dining table doesn’t disappoint.

Amalfi U Bar Industrial Oak Dining Table

There is a cool smoothness to this table that is attractive. The refined wood table top would suit the smoothness of brown leather dining chairs or even a bench. But what is clear about this industrial table is its versatility. With the u-bar legs, it can easily morph from a four to six-seater dining table with a chair for a guest at each of its short ends.

If you like cool and chic, the Amalfi u-bar industrial dining table should be on your list.

The Amalfi white spider leg oak industrial dining table

The industrial style brings together brooding steel with the comfort, warmth and familiarity of wood and in most cases in our range, the uniqueness of reclaimed wood.

Amalfi Oak Industrial Dining Table and Velvet Dining Chairs

Details are careful and considered, something that we liked about the Amalfi white spider leg industrial dining table. This oak dining table epitomises the industrial style with a hint of glamour.

Glamour doesn’t always have to scream at the top of its voice. It can shimmer and dazzle without imposing which is why the detailed wood top of this inspired dining table is the perfect match for the straight lines of the spider legs.

Painted white, they inject plenty of glamour, a hint of ‘something different’ for the dining room but also perfect for the kitchen/diner too. Make even more of it with velvet dining chairs, and you have the perfect basis for industrial glamour in your dining room.

Which of these would be your choice?

How to measure for your dining room, a complete guide

Farringdon Reclaimed Wood Dining Table with Bench and Chairs in Room

Worried your dream rustic or industrial dining table won’t fit into your dining room? Too large a dining table will swamp the room, making it hard to use. Every dining table should be practical; thus, size is important. Here’s how to measure your dining room and whether your dream dining table is the best choice.

Measure the room

The first step is to measure the room and draw it out on a piece of paper. If you can draw it to scale, more the better especially if you have an awkward shape room or architectural features you need to accommodate, such as a fireplace with a large hearth.

The magic number…

… is 90cms. If you are using the dining room as the space where you will eat most days and entertain, you need a practical setting. Once you’ve measured your dining room, you will need 90cms between the wall or other solid objects such as your small sideboard or stylish cocktail cabinet, and the table. Anything less will mean guests doing lots of ‘breathing in’ and side-stepping to get to their chair. The optimum clearance between table and wall, however, should be 120cm if you can spare it.

At the table

Every diner needs around 60cm in width to enjoy their meal without knocking elbows with the person next to them. With the information you have so far, you are beginning to build a clearer picture of whether a 6-seater dining table is the way forward or whether you can go the all the way with an 8-seater dining table.

Consider an extending dining table

If you are struggling for space and won’t be using all 6 or 8 dining chairs every time you eat at the table, opting for a small extendable dining table makes perfect sense. Simply store the ‘spare’ dining chairs when not in use.

Farringdon Reclaimed Wood Extendable Dining Table

The unsung hero of the dining room is…

… the dining bench. If you need extra seating space and are comfortable with the ad hoc, informal nature of a dining bench, then go for it. You won’t regret it as a purchase.

Beam Reclaimed Wood Dining Bench

Pay attention to the dining table legs

Whether you have acres of space in the dining room or not, you need to pay close attention to the legs of the dining table you choose.

There are beautiful dining legs and framework, all of which can be admired by your guests but not if they are knocking their knees or ankles on it.

Amalfi Oak Dining Table with White Painted Leg

If you want something slightly less predictable than the leg-in-each-corner approach, the Amalfi industrial dining table complete with spider leg is beautiful but can limit ‘extra’ seating space. If you want to seat people at the short end of the dining table but don’t want to let too much of the leg detail go, then the Amalfi u-bar industrial dining table is ideal.

Amalfi U Bar Oak Dining Table and 3 Leather Chairs

However, the simplest solutions are often the best; thus, the Beam rustic dining table is ideal in a dining room that can easily accommodate its delightful features. Beam Reclaimed Wood Dining Table and Leather Dining Chairs

Don’t forget…

… doors need to open. Whether that is your small sideboard or cocktail cabinet, you must be able to access the contents without asking diners to move!

The Versatility Of Large Industrial Dining Tables

Oak Dining Table with Velvet Dining Chairs

Whether it is an informal, ad hoc get-together or a planned, formal dinner party, the large industrial dining table is the perfect solution for the dining room. Seating more than eight diners, a large dining table looks welcoming with more than a hint of something grand about it.

But how do you make your choice? What should you look for?

Simplicity is key but details matter

When opting for a large reclaimed wood dining table, simplicity is the name of the game, but to stay true to the industrial style, the detail matters. Without detail, it slides into the modern, contemporary style category and so the beauty of the spider leg of the Amalfi large industrial dining table is the perfect solution. Detail without clutter, it also stays true to the practical nature of the industrial furniture style.

Amalfi Oak Dining Table with White Spider Leg

Presence without being imposing

The larger dining table brings with its dimensions alone a very firm presence to the dining room. Rather than attempting to diminish it, why not welcome its size because it is for its larger seating capacity that you have chosen it?

Hoxton Oak Dining Table with Black Steel Legs

The beauty of an oak dining table is not lost on anyone. It has a presence both in its leg design but also in the beauty of the wood itself. Nestle it into position with an industrial sideboard to maintain the industrial style and you will have a dining room perfect for any occasion.

Consider a dining bench

Seating is usually the main issue when it comes to any large dining table. For occasions when you know you will have more than you allocated seating, turn to the versatility of a dining bench.

Rocco Industrial Oak Dining Table and Brown Leather Chairs

But if you are thinking hard, wood benches, think again. The leather-clad dining bench with all the hallmarks of the industrial design is a stunning addition, comfortable too. Against the detail of the Rocco oak dining table, complete with industrial ‘leg work’, the industrial dining bench is perfection.

Truly rustic meets truly industrial

The industrial style is borne from the repurposing of industrial buildings. No wonder the meeting of raw metal with raw wood is such a traditional pairing in the industrial style. With the hint of luxury that is offered by the gleam of the polished, mirror metal, the 8 seater dining table from the Luxe Kensington Collection is an inspired choice.

Luxe Kensington Reclaimed Wood Industrial Dining Table

Perfect seating

Faux leather or leather dining chairs are the perfect companions to the industrial dining table but if you feel you need more texture, switch it up with upholstered dining chairs. The key to successful and compatible dining chairs is to remember that detail is unfussy and doesn’t clutter the eye. For any of the large, 8 seater dining tables in the industrial range, grey upholstered dining chairs would make the perfect companions. Or if you feel you need more, go all out – there is no room for half-measures – and opt for the luxury of velvet dining chairs against the industrial dining table.

Imposing. Stylish. Practical. Beautiful. Who wouldn’t love this – and all the other large industrial dining tables – centre stage in the dining room?

Scandinavian Style Oak Dining Tables Under £800

Wycombe Oak Dining Table and Bench

The Scandinavian style is a beautiful one, streamlined, minimal and yet warm and welcoming. Its simplicity is key to its success, a factor that works well in the dining room. If you have a nordic landscape planned for the dining area, a Scandinavian oak dining table and chairs will be top of your list.

Why choose a Scandinavian oak dining table?

As a wood, oak is robust and yet so very beautiful that it suits every home. Better still, there is a beautiful oak table to fit every budget. Considering how long you’ll have the table in your dining room, investing in a beautiful dining room table is the foundation of your dining room.

Delightfully versatile, how you dress the dining table can also help make it the practical piece of dining room furniture you need.

1 Opt for the largest oak table you can

Wycombe Oak Extending Dining Table with Chairs and Oak Bench

If you regularly entertain or have a large family opting for an oak dining table and chairs that is large enough to accommodate everyone is clearly essential. A 6-seater dining table makes perfect sense – not too big to swamp a room, it still offers plenty of seating options. Its light colour and light frame make the Scandinavian oak dining table the perfect choice.

Mitcham Industrial Oak Dining Table and Faux Leather Dining Chairs

If you have the space – you need about a metre from the back of the dining chair and the nearest object to form a corridor around your dining table – you could opt for a larger dining table, such as an 8-seater dining table. Mix it up with the industrial dining table style if you want the block table top but without the heavy leg and frame.

Hambledon Oak Round Dining Table and 4 Oak Chairs

Quick tip – struggling for space in the dining room? Opt for a round oak dining table. Anything circular promotes the flow in a room, making it easier to move around the space.

2 Dining seating

The lightness of the frame means that dining chairs should emulate this. Anything too blocky will look too heavy against the lithe frame of a Scandinavian styled oak table.

This doesn’t mean you can use coloured fabric upholstered chairs – far from it! – but consider the tone and ‘weight’ of the chair.

Wycombe Oak Dining Table and 2 Oak Benches

A great solution is the dining bench. There is a utilitarian appeal to a minimal bench that sits well alongside the oak dining table. A table flanked by an oak bench on either side is a superb solution to the busy kitchen diner and doesn’t swallow floor space either.

Portobello Oak Dining Table and Bench

If you don’t want a too matchy-matchy finish between the Scandinavian dining table and chairs, you can always switch it up a little with a sprinkling of the industrial style. Working well with an oak table, the lighter metal frame of an industrial dining chair adds a little extra zing.

3 Dressing the dining room

The dining table is the not only essential piece of dining rooms furniture you need. Alongside the table and dining chairs, you need storage solutions with the small oak sideboard coming in at the top of the list.

But again, opting for ‘lighter’ pieces in terms of both colour and design is key to allowing the oak dining table to be the star of the show.

Rocco Oak Dining Table and Faux Brown Leather Dining Chairs

Detailing is key. If you want the dining table to stand out, opt for one with statement legs or frame such as in the case of an oak dining table with interesting industrial legs. Or go all in; opting for a Scandinavian style oak table with slightly chunkier finish with a frame that sits well with the dining benches.

How to pick the right fabric colour for dining chairs

Celine Green Velvet Dining Chairs in Dining Room

Colour adds depth, drama, texture and – if you let it – stylish sassiness to a room. However, there is a clear issue in terms of longevity when it comes to how on-trend a colour stays, and for that reason alone, many of us are put off from choosing colourful fabric upholstered dining chairs. Can you get it right?

Reclaimed wood furniture is beautiful to work with, adding romance and uniqueness to any room, the dining room included. Alongside this romance, colour works exceptionally well. But colourful upholstered dining chairs doesn’t necessarily mean dark, dramatic colours, although they have their place.

Want darker hues, but frightened of taking the plunge?

Riley Purple Velvet Dining Chair

We hear you! The Riley purple velvet dining chair is stunning but if you feel this is too big a step in terms of colour in the dining room, why not make these statement velvet dining chairs? In other words, opt for neutral but complimenting neutral fabric colours with the remaining dining chairs making the Riley purple velvet dining chairs the standout statement.

Lighten the shade of your favourite colour

Florence Cream Fabric Dining Chair

Sometimes, opting for a lighter hue of your favourite colour is the way forward when you want to introduce colour but are erring on the conservative side. Again, using the ‘mix and match’ approach, tone down purple into light pink dining chairs, beautiful to sit alongside neutral colours such as cream dining chairs, white or even grey fabric dining chairs, but also stronger colours such as green.

Brook Grey Upholstered Dining Chair

Style walks hand in hand in with colour

The thing with using colour in statement furniture pieces such as dining chairs is to get the styling around them right. This way, you are not heading into battle with ‘on-trend colours and shades’ that could potentially date before you’ve moved onto your main course.

Reclaimed wood furniture is not just for the rustic style nor for the industrial style which continues to dominate interior design in 2019. Reclaimed wood is just as perfect for the farmhouse look as it is for the fusion of industrial and glamour.

When you have a strong stylistic landscape, coloured velvet dining chairs ‘fit’ right in. But there are occasions, we grant you, when the material is not quite practical enough. Velvet is a short pile cotton fabric that oozes sumptuousness and elegance – as do leather dining chairs but with a more practical element. Easy to keep clean and looking smart, colourful leather dining chairs pack a punch all of their own.

Allegro Brown Leather Dining Chair with Wooden Legs

There is no denying that paired with a reclaimed wood dining table, leather dining chairs are simply beautiful. From rube red leather to the elegance of brown leather dining chairs, material and colour combine to bring a style statement to the dining room. The Allegro brown leather dining chair with its ‘simple’ design is one of our most popular, unpretentious and yet so perfect for making an understated impact on the dining room.

Be bold – choose colour!

Choosing colour doesn’t have to mean vivid pink or bright yellow. Brown leather dining chairs make a statement, as do cream dining chairs and grey ones but if you want to add glamour, be bold and opt for pink, purple or green velvet dining chairs as long as they fuse the surrounding style, your dining room will come together is a designer dream.

Tips for mixing metals in the dining room

Industrial Oak Extendable Dining Table and Green Velvet Dining Chairs

The metallic finish in a room’s décor is nothing new. In fact, there are some interior designers who suggest that no room is complete without a metallic finish to frame the space. How we use a metallic finish as an accessory and detail has changed. But can you overdo the shiny finish? How do you work with metal so that the overall finish is stylish and chic? Do you mix gold upholstered dining chairs with silver accessories? Will it all go with your reclaimed wood dining table? And can you throw in a gold rug for good measure? Here, we take you through some ideas on how to mix metals with the best effect.

Metals in décor

We are accustomed to seeing metallic finishes in a room in detailing such as door furniture, cabinet and sideboard door handles, kitchen cabinet handles and more. To a certain extent, these metal handles and hinges are inevitable. When we decorate a room, we decide on the finish and colour – would you opt for brass door handles or chrome? Would you opt for a brushed, matte finish or a shiny, mirrored and highly polished effect?

But today, it isn’t just these small details that are metal in any given room but in other accessories too, such as the base of lamps and the frames of reclaimed wood furniture. But how can you welcome metallic finish into a room? Can you mix metals?

Our tips for mixing metals

Metals in the dining room bring light, shimmer and opulence – things we are all in favour off. The recent fusion of Hollywood glamour with the industrial style has created a platform for the confident use of more than one metal in a room. to get it right, follow these tips that are proven to work.

1 Choose a dominant metal type or colour

Just like using more than one colour in a room, you need to decide which is the dominant metal type. Will it be a mirrored gold colour such as in the Blackbone Collection or will it be brushed chrome?

4 Seater Extendable Dining Table and Velvet Chairs

Making your choice of one main metallic finish or colour such as centring the room around a dining table with grey dining chairs means that you can use other metal finishes or colours in a supporting role if you intend on introducing more than one metal to a space.

#2 Three metallic finishes

Limiting your choice to three metallic finishes in a room prevents the glaring, mish-mash effect that is anything by elegant and chic.

With your dominant metal making the first all-important impression, you need to bring other metals into play. There are no hard and fast rules about which metals can or can’t be used with each other. It is a case of experimenting to determine if you like the overall effect and finish.

Luxe Kensington Reclaimed Wood Dining Table with Velvet Dining Chairs

There is no denying that using similar colours work wells. For example, the black steeliness of the industrial style works surprisingly well with both polished and matte chrome. Likewise, the golden shimmer of a brass effect finish will fuse well with the yellower shade of gold and black steel.

#3 Work metals with your colour palette

No matter what colour you choose for the walls and the rug of the dining room, the metallic finish needs to match and contrast with your chosen hue.

For drama, the depth of black steel sits well with navy as it does with very dark earthy green or even the orange glow of terracotta. For glamour, add polished metal, such as chrome or the brass colour finish.

Luxe Kensington Reclaimed Wood Dining Table with Pink Velvet Dining Chairs

Against lighter colours, lighter metallic finishes work well. The beauty of mirrored chrome is no lost against a powdered pink or other pastel and chalky shades.

Effortless integration

From the chrome or brass legs of your 6-seater dining table and fabric dining chairs to the frame of the display unit in the dining room, metals are simply perfect. But which would be your choice?

Styling a small dining room with reclaimed furniture

Barclay Reclaimed Wood Sideboard

There is no reason why the bijou dimensions of a small dining room cannot be stylish and beautiful and contain a reclaimed wood dining table– and all without compromising on functionality either. However, it is a pragmatic move to make the most of the space, no matter how little there is, as well as emphasise the space within the room. To do this, you need clever alchemy between colour, texture and detail.

Floor space

When it comes to maximising the feeling of how big a room is, there needs to fewer ‘ends and boundaries’. Surprisingly, this starts with the floor. If the eye can see the edge of the room, the room feels bigger.

Reclaimed Wood Sideboard with Hairpin Legs

Thus, if you opt for a small sideboard that sits flush to the floor, it instantly chops a chunk of space from being visible to the eye. If you opt for a sideboard with hairpin legs, however, you can see more of the floor. Combined with clever detailing across the rest of the room and an extendable dining table and chairs the smaller dining room will feel bigger.

Colour scheme with accents of gold

We know that lighter colours work better in a smaller room but that doesn’t mean white, beige or magnolia. It can mean pale blue and green, with twists of emerald green with shimmers of gold coloured accessories for detail without the clutter.

It can mean a statement wall with pretty patterned wallpaper – stick with smaller pattern shape for a clever play on maximising the space you have available – or even a glorious pale yellow colour palette with hints of warm golden accessories.

Subtle changes in texture

Any room, irrespective of how large or small it may be, needs a change in texture to lift it from being ‘flat’. Ditch the heavy, shag pile rugs and scatter cushions along with fussy drapes, in favour of more subtle changes in texture.

Reclaimed Wood Dining Bench with Patterned Throw

Alongside the utilitarian dining bench by the 6 seater dining table, opt for leather dining chairs. Both are smooth and cool to the touch but the note change between the hardest of wood is foiled by the softness of the leather. Keep the detailing minimal and the shape too – the simple, yet stylish elegance of brown leather dining chairs are not be underestimated.

Brown Leather Dining Chair with Angled Legs

If you prefer the warmth of upholstered dining chairs, there is no reason why the smaller dining room cannot accommodate them. Perfect for introducing texture, choose the focus on the dining chair and stick with it. For example, upholstered dining chairs with a strong colour or opt to make the most of the stylish shape of the dining chairs – the Daley dining chair, for example, has shape and detailing, as well as beautiful legs.

Pink Velvet Dining Chair and Cream Dining Chair and Grey Dining Chair

Or let your fabric choice sing such as this slimline, beautiful velvet upholstered dining chair.

Minimising the edges

When we talked of floor space, we mentioned edges and how blurring the full stops in a room helps the flow and feeling of space within it. The same is true where walls meet the ceiling. Choose a light wall colour and continue it onto the ceiling too, minimise the note change between wall and ceiling colour. If you feel this is too monotonous, use artwork clustered on the walls to break the sequence.

What tips do you have for maximising the feeling of space in a small dining room?
